What is diabetic Macular Edema?
when someone has diabetes, it is very important to get yearly screening eye exams to make sure the diabetes is not affecting the eyes. blood vessels can leak into the macula, which is the area to the left of the optic nerve in the above picture. this causes reduction of central vision.
